Artist Bio

"As I submerge my head under the water, I surrender to something bigger than myself. The comforting silence and rhythmic movement of the waves engulf me. No longer able to hold my breath, I break the water’s surface and am greeted with the bright warmth of the sun and the voices of loved ones." These moments of surrender, awe, and connection continue to shape the way she experiences and creates art.

Olivia Lane Frederiksen is a textile artist, community builder, educator, and lover of the sea. Working with fiber, reclaimed textiles, natural dyes, found objects, and paint, Olivia creates work exploring faith, nature, community, and the beauty of creation. Her practice includes batik, quilting, felting, embroidery, crochet, and textile collage, using materials that carry memory, connection, and care.

Through installations, liturgical commissions, workshops, and collaborative projects, Olivia uses art as a way to bring people together and create moments of wonder. She sees textiles as a reflection of human connection—individual threads woven together to create something stronger and more beautiful. Whether creating a ceremonial piece or a community artwork, Olivia invites others to slow down, notice beauty, and rediscover the joy of making something meaningful together.
